Dear Readers,
You, like I, are probably reflecting on your Easter celebration of last week. I wanted to share a bit of the beauty around me this spring along with a few pictures from Yeongwol community’s Holy Week experiences. The tomb and crosses built by children and young people here, helped us ponder Jesus’ crucifixion on Good Friday, the day of waiting on Saturday, and then the joy of Easter Sunday, the Resurrection. I’ve included a song I learned somewhere in childhood, the lines of which came back to mind last week as I stopped to look at bright green rye pushing out of brown, dry earth. The words stuck with me through Easter.
Enjoy,
-Trudi

Good Friday
Holy Saturday
Easter Sunday
Yeongwol community celebrated Jesus’ Resurrection by visiting the empty tomb just as the disciples did.
On Easter morning, after a festive communal breakfast in a beautifully prepared and decorated dining room, we heard the story from the gospels of how Jesus appeared to Mary Magdelene and then to the other disciples.
My best part was singing joyful Easter songs in Korean and English—both languages simultaneously with noisy chicks accompanying us from the corner of the room.
In the days following Easter, as I watch spring putting on her best show, the lines from Easter hymns still run through my heart.
“Death could not hold Him, He liveth again!”
“Christ is arisen, joy to thee mortal!”
